ECTS credit allocation (and other scores): 0 OR 3.00 (differs over time) Basic information on ECTS credits allocation principles:
  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Preliminary Requirements:

None

Full description:

Most of the exercises will be held in a microscope room, where students will learn about the histology of the nervous system and the types of neurons. Separate exercises will be devoted to the practical learning of cutting and staining histological sections of the brain, spreading them on slides, recognizing the main structures of the brain on sections and staining the sections using basic methods (e.g. the Nissel method, DAPI) and the evaluation of the sections obtained under a microscope. During the next exercises, the methods of examining the nervous system used in neurophysiology will be discussed: electrophysiological, histological, immunohistological and genetic, as well as the results of more interesting studies carried out with these methods.
