The aim of the course is to introduce students to the issues of social ethics, understood as an area of philosophical research aiming to formulate the basic moral principles as well as moral norms and standards of moral judgment in force in the sphere of relations between social actors (human persons holding a variety of social roles). |

The course introduces students to the main issues of social ethics. It is a continuation of the presentation of key research questions undertaken in the field of moral philosophy broadly understood (metaetics, general ethics, detailed ethics / ethics of individual life). The second part of the course will review the conceptions of social communities that go beyond elementary relationships between indiwiduals (marriage / family). In the first place, the phenomenon of national communities will be analyzed. Next, the course will cover the essence, properties and goals of the state, conceptions of law, forms and types of civil disobedience as well as the conceptions of human rights. The final thematic area will be the ethics of the international community, including disputes over the conditions of permissibility of military violence, ways of opposing terrorist activities and ethical aspects of intercultural communication. |

Efekty kształcenia i opis ECTS: |
Knowledge: student calls and describes basic philosophical conceptions of social life, knows main notions and ideas in social ethics, lists and discusses moral aims and principles of social ties and norms regulating social structures, distinguishes different kinds of communities, defines them and explains their moral rights and obligations Skills: student, working individually and collectively, analyzes and interprets philosophical texts of social ethics, draws conclusions from claims formulated in philosophical conceptions of social life, recognizes assumptions of postulated thesises and criticizes them, proves the need to put moral principles of social life into practice, shows, how rights and obligations of different communities correspond with personalistic concept of human Competence: student, using their philiosophical knowledge of social ethics, interprets social and cultural events, evaluates contemporary societies, is able to take part in discussions on the social subject, is aware of the moral obligations, arising due to participation in different communities, perceives moral dimension of interpersonal relationships, notices connection between moral development and mature, active and authentic participation in social life.
