Short description:

The aim of the course is to develop students' competence in the identifying unsustainability in the society, as well as in developing a plan for solving a community project / issue, assessing diverse perspectives and involvement of social partners, as well as assessing their competence in promoting a sustainable change.

Full description:

1. The concept of sustainability. Contemporary crises (ecological, social, demographic, global economic, civilization, human spirituality) and its causes.

2. The emergence of the idea of sustainable development and the development of it over time. Typical approaches and contexts for explaining sustainable development.

3. Conceptual basis and topicality of sustainable development in promotion of sustainable societal development.

4. Sustainabilitystrategy and international regulatory framework

5. Sustainable development goals and sub-goals, their relevance to the world, country and community and community’s development

6. Psychologist's sustainability competencies

7. Mechanisms for activating the involvement of social partners in implementing a sustainable strategy at national and regional level.

8. Relationship dynamics in social partnership networks: network theories, interconnection, openness and decentralized access

Efekty kształcenia i opis ECTS:

Participants of the course will gain knowledge and competent understanding of:

1. Aspects of unsustainability in the development of society;

2.Conceptual basis and topicality of sustainable development for a sustainable development of society.

3. Sustainable development goals and their relevance to global, national and

community development.

4. Evaluate your competence for a successful problem solving for sustainability in society.

5. Acquire problem-solving tools for the implementation of a sustainable strategy by involving the social partners.

They will acquire a competence to analyze, synthesize, evaluate and interpret:

1. their role in addressing sustainable challenges;

2. to use the system approach how to involve the social partners in solving problem situations in their professional practice, become aware of theoretical approaches and current European policy issues and perspectives.

They will gain competence to apply knowledge:

1. By modeling problem situations in the context of sustainable societal change by analytically describing societal problems in the society and their possible scientifically sound solutions with the involvement of social partners;

2. Discussing and scientifically arguing on social issues in the society by using critical thinking techniques and strategies;

3. Addressing potential future situations for the implementation of sustainable strategies in society.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Participants will identify and compare the characteristics of sustainability and unsustainability in societal development;

Identify and describe diverse approaches to developing a sustainable development plan * for a solution of wicked societal issues on their choice, by offering approaches to a sustainable solution to the problem of their choice. They will be aware of and critically evaluate the factors that hinder and hinder the implementation of sustainable development.

They will model a detailed plan for the implementation of the sustainable plan for dealing with one of unsustainable issues, by involving the social partners and a systemic approach to the implementation of the strategy;
