Short description:

The aim of the course is to equip participants with basic knowledge, skills and competences, enabling: (1) reviewing the literature on the subject, (2) conducting analysis and synthesis of the collected theoretical material, (3) formulating and justifying the research problem, (4) formulating and justifying research questions and hypotheses, (5) theoretical verification of hypotheses and formulating conclusions, as well as (6) familiarizing participants with the standards of writing applicable in psychology scientific texts.

The aim of the course is to equip participants with basic knowledge, skills and competences, enabling: (1) reviewing the literature on the subject, (2) conducting analysis and synthesis of the collected theoretical material, (3) formulating and justifying the research problem, (4) formulating and justifying research questions and hypotheses, (5) theoretical verification of hypotheses and formulating conclusions, as well as (6) familiarizing participants with the standards of writing applicable in psychology scientific texts.

Efekty kształcenia i opis ECTS:

KNOWLEDGE: After completing the course, the student (1) knows the basic sources of literature on the subject, (2) understands the importance of the process of analysis and synthesis of theoretical and empirical premises underlying the formulation of problems, questions and research hypotheses, (3) knows and understands the importance of scientific justification of the undertaken research problem and its solution, (4) knows the basic editorial standards of scientific psychological texts based on the APA rules.

SKILLS: After completing the course, the student is able to use basic sources of literature on the subject, such as electronic versions of psychological scientific journals, EBSCO electronic journal database, scholar goggles or a scientific portal researchgate.net, (2) can review the literature, determine the current state of knowledge in a given field, formulate a research problem, propose their own solution, formulate research questions and hypotheses, justify them, make critical theoretical verification of hypotheses and formulation of conclusions, (3) applies text editing standards in accordance with APA rules, (4) is able to develop a short synthetic report on the course of research work both in the form of a multimedia presentation and a written work.

COMPETENCES: At the end of the coursework, the student (1) is open to different theoretical perspectives and is able to indicate alternative ways of analyzing and interpreting research problems, (2) is able to organize group work and collaborate with others while working on formulating and solving a common research problem.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Insufficient grade (2): the student has mastered less than 60% of the knowledge, skills and competences covered by the curriculum: - cannot independently review the literature on the subject and determine the current state of knowledge in a given area, - can not formulate a problem, its solution, questions and research hypotheses, - can not justify them, - does not know and can not apply the standards of editing scientific texts in psychology in accordance with the APA rules, - cannot work in a group on formulating and solving a research problem, - cannot prepare and present a report on these works in the form of a multimedia presentation and written work;

For a sufficient assessment (3): the student has minimally sufficiently mastered the range of knowledge, skills and competences covered by the curriculum: - has little knowledge of the available resources and is poorly able to independently review the literature of the subject and determine the current state of knowledge in a given area, - poorly copes with the formulation of the problem, its solution, questions and research hypotheses, - poorly copes with their justification, - is poorly versed in the application of standards for editing scientific texts in psychology in accordance with APA rules, - he has difficulty working in a group on formulating and solving a research problem, - poorly copes with the preparation and presentation of a report on the work performed both in the form of a multimedia presentation and a written work;

For a good grade (4): the student has sufficiently mastered the range of knowledge, skills and competences covered by the course of teaching and is able to apply them: - knows the available resources well enough and is sufficiently able to independently review the literature of the subject and determine the current state of knowledge in a given area, - sufficiently well copes with the formulation of the problem, its solution, questions and research hypotheses, - is sufficiently good at justifying them, - sufficiently well versed in the application of standards for editing scientific texts in psychology in accordance with the APA rules, - sufficiently correctly and effectively works in a group on the formulation and solution of a research problem, - copes well enough with the preparation and presentation of a report on the work done both in the form of a multimedia presentation and a written work;

For a very good grade (5): the student has basically the full range of knowledge, skills and competences covered by the course of teaching: he is able to competently and exhaustively review the literature on the subject and determine on this basis the current state of knowledge in a given area, - very well copes with the formulation of the problem, its solution, questions and research hypotheses, - can competently and comprehensively present their justification, - is very well versed in the application of standards for editing scientific texts in psychology in accordance with the APA rules, - very efficiently and effectively can work in a group on formulating a research problem and searching for its solution, - very well copes with the preparation and presentation of a comprehensive report on the work performed both in the form of a multimedia presentation and written work;
