The course will familiarize students with the topic of Subjective Well-being (SWB). The focus will be placed on the measurement, changes across human development, cross-cultural differences and various factors that are linked to SWB. |

Course aims: - Introduce students to the rapidly advancing Subjective Well-being research, the history and development of ideas in this field. - Help students differentiate between the different concepts and theories developed within this area. - Introduce the most common measures of Subjective Well-being and discuss measurement issues. - Raise students’ awareness of the cross-cultural questions of Subjective Well-being research. - Enhance students’ understanding of Subjective Well-being changes over the life course. - Although the present course is based on the scientific explorations of Subjective well-being, students will learn many practical ideas that they can apply to their own life, in enjoying a healthy, happy and meaningful life and in improving their results at work and university. Main topics: 1. Historic background of Subjective Well-being research 2. Concepts and theories of Subjective Well-being 3. Measurement of Subjective Well-being 4. Demographic factors and Subjective Well-being 5. Income and material wealth and Subjective Well-being 6. Interpersonal relationships, Personality, heritability, and individual differences and Subjective Well-being 7. Culture and Subjective Well-being 8. Subjective Well-being over the life course 9. Interventions for enhancing Subjective Well-being |
