Short description: |
The aim of the course is to equip first-year students with the skills and knowledge that form the basis of effective study and enable: orientation in the structure of the university, orientation in the rights and obligations of the student, proper communication with academic teachers and authorities of the institute, faculty, university, as well as equipping first-year students in techniques that facilitate adequate and effective preparation for classes and exams. |

The aim of the course is to equip first-year students with the skills and knowledge that form the basis of effective study. The main thing is: (1) students to be familiar with the structure of the home university, know the titles, degrees, names and surnames of the university authorities (Rector and Vice-Rectors, Dean and Vice-Deans, Director of the Institute and his deputies); (2) that they consciously exercise their rights and fulfill their obligations set out in the UKSW Studies Regulations; (3) to be able to properly communicate with their academic teachers and university authorities, both in everyday contacts and in correspondence (internet correspondence, writing applications, etc.); (4) that they can independently and effectively search for relevant literature, take notes, prepare for classes and exams, (5) students were familiar with the basic ethical principles which should be followed by a psychologist. |

Efekty kształcenia i opis ECTS: |
Knowledge: A student is familiar with the structure of the university, knows who and what functions they perform in the authorities of the university, faculty and institute. He knows the regulations of UKSW studies and the principles of proper communication with academic teachers. Knows the basic techniques of independent and effective learning, preparation for classes and presentation of accumulated knowledge. Skills: The student is able to correctly formulate official letters and applications, and is able to communicate with both the university authorities and academic teachers. Is able to apply appropriate techniques of effective learning, preparation for classes and presentation of accumulated knowledge. Competences: A student is able to function independently, effectively and according to the applicable rules in the university community. |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
The basic assessment method is an exam in the form of a test. Another important component of assessment is attendance and activity during classes. |
