Course content: Introductory note on the Latin language, alphabet, accents, pronunciation rules, five declensions of nouns, conjugation: various tenses (indicative and imperative mode, infinitives) adjectives - the declension and comparison, pronouns, prepositions, adverbs - creating and comparison; coniunctivus of various tenses,subordinate clauses, gerund, participles (participia); basic information about the syntax: nominal predicate, dativus possessivus, accusativus and nominativus duplex, syntax accusativus cum infinitivo - aci and nominativus cum infinitivo - nci and ablativus absolutus; coniugatio periphrastica activa et passiva ; verba deponentia, verba semideponentia, verba anomala, numerals, roman numerals. Reading texts in the textbook, including selected texts of historians, philosophers and poets of Rome Methods of assessment: The student is required to attend the classes; during each semester the student is to take and pass three tests of gramma and one test with Latin sentences. In the first and second semester, these tests together with the required attendance are the basis for receiving the credit; after one year of the course the student takes the written exam: the exam is to translate Latin text using Latin grammar and Latin-Polish dictionary. The active participation in the classes during the year has a positive influence on the final assessment |

Efekty kształcenia i opis ECTS: |
The student will have a basic information of the Latin gramma, he creates and translates grammatical forms, knows scientifics terminology in linguistics, uses Latin-Polish dictionary, translates basics Latin texts, quotes sentences, understands expressions and phrases in scientific language, notes the Latin origin of words used in other languages, especially in Polish language. |
