Short description:	Course Level: Intermediate Objectives of the course: the student's mastery of the lecture material and the set of readings. Achieving his general knowledge of basic trends and issues in the history of theoretical reflection on literature, with particular emphasis on the methodology of literary research of the twentieth century. Prerequisites: credit and semester.
Full description:	Course contents: I. Methods of literary criticism before anti-positivist breakthough. II. Anti-Positivist breakthrough. Poietocentric directions: Dilthey and the humanities; Bergson and bergsonism; "The Four Musketeers," West Germany; Expressionism of Croce; Psychoanalysis; thematic criticism; Personalism; Literature and Christianity. III. Ergocentric directions: Russian Formalism; theoretical and literary research in Poland during the twentieth century until World War II; Roman Ingarden's phenomenology of literature; semiotics; IV. Postmodernism. Deconstructionism. Other contemporary methodological trends.

Efekty kształcenia i opis ECTS:	(in Polish) Student zna dzieje refleksji teoretycznej nad literaturą, której nabył w trakcie słuchania wykładu oraz czytania wskazanych przez prowadzącego lektur - ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem wiedzy o głównych kierunkach badań literackich w XX w. Umie scharakteryzować poznane szkoły badawcze oraz posiada wiedzę o ich głównych przedstawicielach. Potrafi zastosować nabytą wiedzę w swoich studiach, zwłaszcza w pracy magisterskiej. Posiada umiejętność krytycznej oceny dorobku poszczególnych szkół metodologicznych oraz wyboru właściwej metody badawczej dla zagadnienia, którym się zajmuje.
Assessment methods and assessment criteria:	Assessment methods: Lectures - 2 hours per week for the fourth year students of studies. Exam at the end of the academic year. Obligatory knowledge of: 1) the content of the lectures and readings selected by the teacher, 2) material of classes and anthology of main methodological directions of the twentieth century in the scope of Euro-Americaqn research, 3) knowledge of the main representatives of these methodological guidelines.
