  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;
  • the student’s weekly hourly workload is 45 h;
  • 1 ECTS point corresponds to 25-30 hours of student work needed to achieve the assumed learning outcomes;
  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;
  • work required to pass the course, which has been assigned 3 ECTS, constitutes 10% of the semester student load.

Short description:

Course Level: intermediate

Objectives of the course: after the course the student:

1. knows terminology, the causes of dyslexia, how to recognize it and the influence on the functioning of the child in school and beyond

2. knows the law regulations of the topic

3. knows the basic principles and techniques of working with a pupil with dyslexia

4. understands the difficulties of the child, is able to provide emotional support to the child and attract parents as allies

Prerequisites: basic knowledge about development psychology.

Full description:

Course contents:

1. The most common causes of non-dyslexic school problems.

2. The definition of specific learning difficulties in reading and writing.

3. Presentation of different views on the causes of the emergence of the above. difficulties.

4. Symptoms of dyslexia and the procedure for dealing (pedagogical diagnosis, supplementary diagnosis, provide information to parents, diagnosis and therapy in psychological and pedagogical clinic).

5. The role of the teacher in helping to a child with dyslexia:

- the main principles and attitudes

- most commonly used methods of work

- gaining allies

6. The role and importance of parents in the context of the various children's difficulties, including dyslexia.

7. The legislation currently in force which is governing the support for a child with dyslexia.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

The final mark, which credits a course can be obtained in two ways:

1. preparing a presentation to the group, summarizing the knowledge obtained (in the form of drama scenes or multimedia

presentation)

2. writing a test- the final exam, which will take place on the penultimate class

The final mark also depends on attendance: 100% attendance and activity in the classroom.
