Objectives of the course: The student gains the ability to organize concepts of Textology and editing and is introduced to major problems associated with the preparation of a critical publication.

Entrance requirements: knowledge of basic concepts in the field of editorial and textology.

Full description:

Course contents:

1. Textology - scientific editing.

2. Textology - a historical outline.

3. Critical edition - an attempt of definition. Scientific and popular edition for general public and critical edition.

4. Problems with the choice of a base edition . Part 1 - the position of researchers to the problem.

5. Problems with the choice of a base edition. Part 2 - text messages.

6. Problems with the choice of a base edition. Part 3 - author's and non-author's interventions into the text of the work; the concept of autonomy of the text.

Methods of assessment:

classes end with a written exam. Attendance is taken into account.
