Short description:

Level of the course: Advanced

Course objectives:

mastering scientific basis for a workshop to prepare Bachelor degree thesis. Learning the basic forms and methods of making a written scientific work, development and embedding of skills doing bibliographic queries, preparing subject and object bibliographies, editorial skills to develop a scientific text, the ability to use scientific sources, knowledge of prinicplies of citation, the ability to compose footnotes and indexes. Skills in self-study materials and selecting the source for the thesis. Basic skills for constructing scientific argument: making a claim, leading the topic, an argument.

Entrance requirements: full range of knowledge and skills of a student who has completed the second year of first cycle studies for Bachelor provided in the programme.

Course contents:

Science workshop of a contemporary student of Polish studies. Rules of preparation and use of scientific studies. The principles of constructing a scientific argument. Editorial rules for Polish scientific work. Stylistic elements of scientific texts. Composition of a Bachelor thesis.

Assessment methods: a written Bachelor thesis.
