Short description:

The course aims to give an image of the period called "Renaissance"

from the fifteenth century until the end of the sixteenth century

and the beginnings of what is called "Baroque". The historical and

political assumptions of the Renaissance will be briefly highlighted.

Then a description will be made of the new aspects related to medieval culture. The main aspects highlighted will be: the new sense of history (Lorenzo Valla and Guicciardini), the rediscovery of ancient Latin and Greek texts, rediscovered or discovered a new sense of space (Leon Battista Alberti etc.), the new vision of power and politics (Machiavelli), of the courtly label (Baldassare Castiglione) etc. The influence of this new model on foreign culture and also on Polish culture will be taken into consideration.
