Short description:

The aim of the seminar is to familiarize students with the specificity of the nursing profession, the social role of the patient and health care workers, and the operation of medical institutions in Poland - from the point of view of sociology (especially medical). The course will cover the following topics:

1. Sociology as a science

2. Sociology in medicine

3. Sociological understanding of health and disease by health professionals and patients

4. The specificity of the operation of medical institutions in Poland

5. Characteristics of sociological factors influencing patient's health and disease behavior

6. Civilization diseases and sociology.

Classes will be conducted online, using MS Teams.

Efekty kształcenia i opis ECTS:

KNOWLEDGE:

BW02- the student knows the issues of human - social environment relations;

BW09 - student discusses selected theories and methods of reality modeling from the perspective of sociology that are applicable in nursing;

BW12- the student defines the concepts of a group, organization, institution, population, community

and ecosystem and knows the rules of their functioning;

BW15- the student defines and interprets the phenomenon of class, ethnic and gender inequality as well as discrimination

BW33- the student defines specific health risks in the living, education and work environment.

SKILLS:

BU02- the student is able to assess the influence of illness, hospitalization and other difficult situations on the physical, mental and social functioning of a human being;

BU05 - the student can analyze human attitudes, the process of their shaping and change;

BU21- the student is able to interpret activities in the field of health and social policy conducted by the state for public health;

BU24 - the student is able to control the aggravating factors in the work of a nurse and favor the occurrence of occupational diseases and accidents at work;

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

The prerequisite for passing the online seminar is active participation in the classes, interpreting and analyzing the topics set by the teacher, as well as passing (publicly - during classes) a group project prepared on the topic assigned by the teacher.

Student workload:

9 h- active participation in classes

5h - student's own work

1 h - presentation of the project during classes

The grade (3) of the course is given to the student who, during the course and presentation of the final project in the field of knowledge, will demonstrate knowledge of the issues of the human-social environment relationship and can discuss selected theories and methods of modeling reality from the perspective of sociology that apply in nursing;

In terms of skills, he can analyze human attitudes, the process of their formation and change.

The db (4) grade for the course is awarded to the student who, apart from meeting the requirements for the dst (3) Demonstrate knowledge of defining and interpreting the phenomenon of class, ethnic and gender inequality and discrimination during the classes and presentation of the final knowledge project.

In terms of skills, the ability to indicate specific actions in the field of health and social policy conducted by the state for public health;

A very good (5) grade for the course is given to the student who, in addition to meeting the requirements for the db (4) grade, during the course and the presentation of the final project in terms of knowledge, will demonstrate knowledge of identifying specific health hazards occurring in the environment of residence, education and work.

In terms of skills, he will also demonstrate the ability to control the aggravating factors in the work of a nurse and favoring the occurrence of occupational diseases and accidents at work.

Short description: (in Polish)

Studenci kierunku Pielęgniarstwo powinni poznać funkcjonowanie człowieka w społeczeństwie. Istotna jest znajomość procesu socjalizacji pierwotnej oraz wtórnej, zasad funkcjonowania w grupie społecznej oraz znaczenia pełnionych ról rodzinnych, zawodowych. Istotną kwestią jest umiejętność rozpoznawania sytuacji stresogennych oraz poznanie sposobów ich zapobiegania bądź łagodzenia ich skutków.
