Short description: (in Polish)

The main aim of the course is to introduce students with various issues related to diagnosing, supporting and educating children with special educational needs due to various kinds of disorders and disabilities (sensory and motor disabilities, learning disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, mental disorders, intellectual disability) or exceptional learning skills.

The following issues will be discussed within the course:

1.The concept of disability and inclusion. Stereotypes about phenomena of disability and people with disability. (2h)

2. Etiology, objective and subjective symptoms and consequences of visual, hearing, intellectual, mental, motor, neurodevelopmental and learning disorders (6h)

3. Specificity of learning difficulties of children with special educational needs (2h)

4. Classroom stategies in working with children with diffenrend kinds of learning difficulties (2h)

5. Individual Educational Plan (3h)

Attendance to all classes is recommended and encouraged. Student is allowed to miss 1 class (2h) during 15h cycle without any justification, but if student misses more than that, each subsequent absence will require additional work (preparing presentations or assignment). The course can not be passed if student has more than than 4 absences (8h) for 15h course.

Students are expected to complete all readings prior to class. The texts will be available on the MOODLE platform.

THE STUDENT REQUIREMENTS:

1. Students will prepare and make presentation on selected topic

2. Student will prepare an Individual Educational Plan on the basis of a given case study of a child with special educational needs.
