Short description:

Level of the course: basic

Effects of education:

1) knowledge: student can distinguish ethics from psychology, sociology, law etc., determines specificity of personalistic ethics; indicates anthropological foundation of ethics;

2) abilities: student rightly analyses ethical questions, acquires ability of critical thinking and discussing the controversial questions;

3) attitudes: student understands significance of moral questions, is capable of listening different and critical opinions, accepts using moral criterion in social area.

Description of the subject

Essentials: metaethical issues, definition of ethics, morality, law, psychology, sociology in comparison with ethics, conception of the person, morality experience, different ethical conceptions: eudaemonism, utilitarism, deontonomism , truth and freedom in morality, conscience, happiness, cardinal virtues, self-governance, self-fulfilment, responsibility

Methods of evaluation

Activity on lessons (ability do discussion, to precise formulating of the problems)

Preparation of a presentation on discussing subjects (oral or written)

Ability of critical reading of ethical text

Written test of a knowledge and understanding ethical subjects

Student:

1. can determines specific character of moral problems (as opposed to psychologic, social, law);

2. knows philosophical (antropological) foundation of ethics;

3. is able analyzing moral problems in culture and social life;

4. acquires ability of critical thinkimg and discussing controversial moral questions.

5. is able to apply is knowledge to solve practical question.

General criteria:

- activity on lessons;

- ability to discussion, to precise formulating of the problems;

- ability of critical reading of ethical text;

Marks

bad (2) - (student) doesn't know ethical terminology; doesn't understand specific character of ethics; is not able analysing moral problems and discussing moral questions;

fair (3) - knows some ethical terms; insufficiently understands specific character of ethics; is able analysing some moral problems and discussing moral questions;

good (4) - knows ethical terminology; understand specific character of ethics; is able analysing moral problems and discussing moral questions;

very good (5) - can properly determines specific character of moral problems (as opposed to psychologic, social, law); knows very well philosophical (anthropological) foundation of ethics; is able analysing moral problems in various fields of life; acquires ability of critical thinking and discussing controversial moral questions.
