  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;

  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

Short description:

Subject Level: advanced

Module aims: By the end of the module student should be able to define basic terms of research in pedagogy; he can characterize quantitative and qualitative strategies, he can specify basic methods of research in pedagogy and basic techniques ; he can specify scales of measurement, in particular the nominal scale, the ordinal scale and the interval scale; he can define measures and indicators and get know how to use them in practice..

The student is able to individually prepare a methodologically correct research project.

Full description:

Substantial contents: knowledge and scientific cognition, terms and assumptions of educational research, quantitative approaches: methods, techniques, measurement of educational researches, effectiveness and rules of application of statistics methods of educational researches, structure and application of research techniques, organization and stages of educational research. Qualitative approaches: basic terms, assumptions, kinds of qualitative approaches, methods of collecting research material, working out qualitative results, analyses and final presentation.

Student has basic knowledge of methodological terminology in education.

Characterises qualitative and quantitative strategies in educational research.

Knows the principles of conceptualisation and operationalisation educational research.

Student is able to put some questions and hypothesis, choose some methods and create tools.

Knows how to make project, plan and organise his own educational research.

Student is able to analyse final results, make a presentation and conclusions.

Knows the principles and is conscious of ethic problems in social research.
