Short description:

The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with selected methods and diagnostic techniques applicable in vocational guidance, measure competencies in working environments, develop the skills of selecting suitable tools needed in shaping one’s own professional career and stimulate to build one’s own working workshop of an advisor.

Full description:

Scope of subjects

1. Profesjonalizm qualifications and competencies – the result of vocational education and acquired experience explanation of basic notions;

2. Structures of qualifications and their usefulness in terms of type and place of education. New core curriculum for professions vs. diagnosis of qualifications and competencies;

3. Diagnostics in vocational guidance. Examples of diagnostic methods and techniques: test, inventories, questionnaires; polling, artistic and projection techniques; ability to recognize values, goals and priorities;

4. Sources and forms of development of competencies of a modern employee (formal learning, learning at one's workplace, coaching, mentoring);

5. Problem of measuring competencies: characteristics of selected methods and tools for assessment – observation scales, tests on competencies, participant observation, 360-degree assessment). Balance of competencies as the method of managing employees through taking advantage of their potential.

Efekty kształcenia i opis ECTS:

W01: Student receives profound knowledge on human development (biological, psychical and social), especially in terms of predicting professional usefulness, vocational counseling, andragogy, modern educational systems and advisory activities for people who need support in dealing with adult life problems;

U01: Student is able to make use and integrate knowledge concerning his/her specialization in order to analyze educational and professional problems, diagnosing these problems and taking up practical actions concerning, inter alia, decisions on professional issues, job interview, curriculum vitae, motivational letter;

U02: Student is able to choose and realize a suitable way of conduct, select suitable measures and working methods in order to prepare the client to go through particular stages of educational and professional career; and choose suitable strategies, applicable in educational facilities, institutional and domestic forms of elderly care and other professional tasks;

U06: Student is able to cooperate with others, work in a team;

K01: Student has a positive attitude towards acquiring knowledge concerning his/her specialization and building the working workshop of an advisor;

K02: Student can identify the needs and is ready to communicate and collaborate with people who are in need of making professional decisions, people looking for a job and activate adults towards undertaking educational path.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Plenarny discussion, work in working groups and individual analysis and interpretation of source material with the use of suitable didactic measures: literature, multimedia presentations.
