Short description:

Short description

The course is addressed to students interested in analyzing the basic dimensions and relations of the upbringing theory and the other pedagogical disciplines. It aims to make students familiar with the application of theoretical constructs to the educational and upbringing problems and the way they are solved. It compares the educational processes with social issues. Special attention is devoted to well-established theories which are discussed and compared with their strengths and shortcomings in relation the changes of the contemporary world and education.

Full description:

The aim of the course is to gain knowledge about the place of the theoretical foundations of education in the sciences of education. Accordingly, in the classes are taken issues describing: the theory of education as a scientific discipline; various definitions of education; methodological problems of the theory of education; anthropological and axiological basis of education, the dynamics and the basic properties of the process of education; Subjective approach in education; the process of moral education and its structure; socio-cultural conditions of upbringing and education and the transformation of the modern world.

Efekty kształcenia i opis ECTS:

Knowledge:

The student is able to characterize the philosophical, socio-cultural and historical foundations of the theory of education, describe

theoretical base for education and demonstrate knowledge of a variety of structured educational environments.

Skills:

After completing the course the student is able to analyze the relationship between educational theory and other pedagogical disciplines, use the basic theoretical knowledge in the field of education in the theoretical basis for analyzing and interpreting educational problems.

Social competences:

Student is able to justify the importance of the knowledge acquired in the process of self-improvement in the teacher profession and to account for the importance of interdisciplinary knowledge in explaining and describing the upbringing and education of children.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Written examination consisting of ten open questions. The maximum number of points to reach is ten.

10-9 = 5.0

8 = 4.5

7 = 4.0

6 = 3.5

5 = 3.0

3.0 - Student is able to characterize the philosophical, socio-cultural and historical foundations of the theory of education; presents a structured knowledge of the anthropological and axiological foundations of education; is able to provide structured knowledge about moral education and empowerment in education; knows how to analyze and interpret behavioral problems, knows what is the relationship between the theory of education and other pedagogical disciplines.

3.5 - The student presents the basics (philosophical, anthropological, axiological) theory of education and structured knowledge about education and different educational environments.

4.0 - The student is able to provide structured knowledge about education and justify the importance of the knowledge acquired in the process of self-improvement in the profession of teacher.

4.5 - The student presents a structured knowledge on the basics of education; is able to analyze the relationship between the theory of education and other pedagogical disciplines, knows how to develop educational strategies.

5.0 - Student is able to provide a framework for the theory of education and interdisciplinary knowledge in explaining and describing the child's upbringing and education, analyze and interpret behavioral problems; presents a structured knowledge about education and different educational environments.
