The purpose of teaching the subject is: ability to define of students the main concepts related to social pathology, analysis of theoretical foundations of the phenomenon of social maladjustment and deviation, its stages and types, causes and effects, characterization of various symptomatic forms of social pathology, identification of causes of antisocial attitudes and behaviors and their effects on psychosocial functioning of a person with special regard to children and adolescents. |

Definition of theoretical concepts related to social pathology and negative deviation. Specificity of the phenomenon of social maladjustment, characteristics of its types and stages of development. Theoretical approaches to explaining the phenomenon of social maladjustment and the process of social reintegration. Selected theories of deviation (theory of anomie, stigmatization, differential relations, social control, deviation as an act of choice). Violence as a pathological phenomenon - typology, effects. Pathological manifestations in the family environment (violence, divorce, rape, murder). Pathology in school environment (vagaries, aggression, bullying). Mobbing as an example of psychopathology at work. Youth subcultures as a factor of pathological attitudes and behaviors. Sect as a pathological phenomenon. Crime of minors and adults. Addiction to substances and activities. Co-dependence. Alcoholism. Drug addiction.Gambling. Prostitution, sponsorship, pornography, promiscuity. Suicidal behavior as an extreme manifestation of pathology. |

Learning outcomes in the field: Knowledge: EK1 - student can define key concepts of social pathology as a discipline (norm, pathology, deviation, behavioral disorder, social maladjustment); EK2 - student can list typologies, analyze major theories and concepts of social maladjustment and describe stages of development; EK3- student can list and characterize selected theories of deviation (theory of anomie, stigmatization, differential relations, social control, deviance as an act of choice of individual); EK4 - student can characterize various symptomatic forms of social pathology (violence, aggression, bullying, mobbing, stalking, crime, alcoholism, drug addiction, gambling, shopaholizm, prostitution, suicide), indicate causes of development, specificity of development and their effects on the psychosocial functioning of children, adolescents and adults; skills: EK5 - student is able to observe social phenomena, possesses the skills of understanding, analyzing and interpreting them in connection with social and educational rehabilitation pedagogy; Social competence: EK6 - student understands the specific nature of the work of socialization and care and education; EK7 - recognizes the importance and role of universal and Christian values in building pedagogical relationships, creating an educational environment and promoting integral human development.
