The aim of the lecture series is to show students the sources, Genesis and evolution of contemporary political systems; presentation of the Genesis, principles and evolution of modern administration; providing students with the capability to use fundamental concepts of administrative law; improving their analysis and understanding of events and historical processes.

The history of administration – theoretical and methodological issues. The genesis of administrative research. Definition of the concept of “administration”. The principles of modern administration. The political system of the 18th-century Republic compared with the political systems of the neighbouring countries (Enlightenment absolutist states). The postulates of political reform – political writing.

The formation of modern administration during the Stanisław period. The reforms of the Convocation Sejm of 1764. The Partition Sejm of 1773-1775. Lawmaking of the 4-Year Sejm, with particular focus on the Government Act of May 3rd 1791. The overthrow of the Great Sejm – the Grodno Sejm and the return to older political systems. The Insurrrection leadership (1794).

Administration in the Polish lands in the post-Partition period (1795-1918). The Constitutional Act of the Duchy of Warsaw (1807). The Free City of Gdańsk.
