The lecture course covers the history of English colonies in North America and the United States from the Civil War till present time, including issues such as culture, economy, foreign policy, daily life, etc. |
Full description: |
It is a general university course not only because of its accessibility to students, but primarily because of its interdisciplinary nature. Implementing chronological approach, the lecture shows the development of individual elements of American civilization and the way in which they influenced one another. All these elements are a substantive continuation of the lecture course in the previous semester, when the chronological range covered the years up to the Civil War. Lectures will be supplemented by extensive iconographic material. |

Students can get course "satisfactory" credit based on attendance if the total number of absences for whatever reason does not exceed 3 (three) Those who want to get higher grades, or those who exceed the permissible limit of absence will sit an oral exam. sWhen conducting classes remotely, the exam consists in writing three mini-essays in 1 hour at home using any sources but WITHOUT rewriting, even from your own notes |

During the lecture, richly illustrated with iconography, students will be familiarized with the development of the United States in the post-Civil War period, in particular with the essence of successive presidencies, the changing approach to world events related to the US taking over the role of a global power, as well as the most important economic and cultural phenomena. |
