Short description:

The purpose of the lecture / seminar is to present the issues of the European Union's Area of Freedom, Security and Justice. During classes, students will be able to learn about:

- AFSJ's history and its development;

- legal bases and legal instruments;

- decision system;

- subject matter;

- key challenges related to the functioning.

Full description:

The purpose of the lecture / seminar is to present the issues of the European Union's Area of Freedom, Security and Justice (AFSJ). During the seminar, students will be able to acquire and expand knowledge in the field of AFSJ.

During the classes students will get to know each other

1. historical development of cooperation between EU Member States in the field of justice and home affairs;

2. the current legal bases of the AFSJ and its institutional framework, as well as legal instruments used to achieve the objectives of the AFSJ.

3. Territorial scope of AFSJ.

4. Objective scope of AFSJ: border control and visa, asylum and immigration policy; police cooperation; judicial cooperation in civil and criminal matters;

5. human rights and the AFSJ;

Classes take the form of a lecture and - partially - a seminar; are conducted with the use of multimedia (presentation).

The lecture ends with an examination.

For the grade 2: the student has no knowledge of international relations and their relationship to economic / legal / social scientific fields

For the grade 3, 3.5: the student has only basic knowledge of international relations and their relations to economic / legal / social scientific fields

For the grade 4, 4.5: the student has a good knowledge of international relations and their relations to economic / legal / social fields. He can combine individual theoretical and practical elements and draw conclusions.

For the 5th grade: the student has a very good knowledge of international relations and their relations to economic / legal / social scientific fields. He can combine individual theoretical and practical elements and draw conclusions and does not make mistakes in assigned tasks.

2. has extended knowledge of various types of international structures and institutions, including in-depth knowledge of regional integration organizations;
