Short description:

The lecture will present the influence of culture on the shaping of contemporary international relations, as well as the forms and methods of cooperation, exchange and competition between states in the field of culture. The thematic blocks presented below will be discussed.

1. International cultural relations as a field of international relations

2. Political, social and economic conditions of intercultural relations

3. The concept of culture. Culture and civilization. Types of modern civilizations. Influence of globalization processes on the spread of culture

4. Participants in international cultural relations

5. International and intercultural communication. The issue of cultural identity

6. Culture as a platform for international dialogue

7. Intercultural conflicts

8. Legal institutionalization of international cultural relations. Protection of the world cultural heritage

9. International cultural cooperation on a global scale. UNESCO - goals and activities

10. Regional cultural cooperation. The role of the European Union and the Council of Europe

11. Culture in the foreign policy of the state. Poland in international cultural relations

EK 5: explains issues related to the influence of cultural identity on international relations,

EK 6: recognizes the cultural determinants of international conflicts,

LO 7: presents the legal regulations for cultural activities in an international context.

- for the grade 2 (ndst) the student is not able to:

LO 4: express an opinion on the national policy and activities undertaken by international organizations in the field of cultural activities,

EK 5: explain the issues related to the influence of cultural identity on international relations,

EK 6: recognize the cultural determinants of international conflicts,

LO 7: present the legal regulation of cultural activities in an international context.

- with a grade of 3 (dst), the student is able to sufficiently:

EK 1: introduce the concepts of culture, civilization and cultural relations in an international context,
