  • the annual hourly workload of the student’s work required to achieve the expected learning outcomes for a given stage is 1500-1800h, corresponding to 60 ECTS;

  • weekly student workload necessary to achieve the assumed learning outcomes allows to obtain 1.5 ECTS;

Short description:

Classes are connected with the lecture of the same title. Issues to be covered include non-destructive methods of archaeological research, their origins, technology, applications, limitations, and the possibility of their complementarity. Especially addressed are the issues concerning the practical applicability of these methods in the work of the archaeologist, not only as supplementary to traditional invasive tests, but instead of such. Some classes may be held in a form of participation in actual archaeological field research.

Classes are connected with the lecture of the same title. Issues to be covered include non-destructive methods of archaeological research, their origins, technology, applications, limitations, and the possibility of their complementarity. Especially addressed are the issues concerning the practical applicability of these methods in the work of the archaeologist, not only as supplementary to traditional invasive tests, but instead of such. Some classes may be held in a form of participation in actual archaeological field research.

Efekty kształcenia i opis ECTS:

KNOWLEDGE:

Student has knowledge of non-destructive methods of archaeological research.

SKILLS:

Student is able to describe goals and possibilities given by modern non-destructive archaeological methods; student is able to derive conclusions on the basis of archaeological reports and scientific publications. Can prepare a given subject in a form of an oral presentation and written work with the bibliography and references.

COMPETENCIES:

The student can independently seek information on a given topic, participate in a discuss, and is creative and open to the opinions of other team members. At the same time can be critical to scientific theses.

participation in the classes - 30 hours

time to prepare a presentation - 10 hours

time to write an essay - 10 hours

preparation for classes - 10 hours

TOTAL HOURS - 60

NUMBER OF ECTS - 60 HOURS = 2 ECTS

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Assessment: 1. active participation in classes (allowed are two absences, the third - even justified, requires additional test) 2. oral presentation on a given topic 3. written work with references and bibliography on the same subject (at least five pages of text, font Times New Roman 12) 3 two colloquia (map, test and open questions)

Grade 2 (insufficient) student does not have the basic knowledge, skills and competences in the field of the nondestructive methods of archaeological research.

Grade 3 (sufficient), student has a basic knowledge, skills and competencies in the above range

Grade 4 (good) has particular knowledge, skills and competencies in the above range and correctly understands issues of archeology of the nondestructive methods of archaeological research, is able to formulate opinions and discuss a given topic

Grade 5 (very good), the student moves freely within the above mentioned areas.
