Short description:

The research area of the seminar focuses on the following issues: mediatization of political communication, issues of press image, election advertising, analysis of press content, political communication of the Catholic Church and other religious bodies, middle range theories of mass communication. The subject matter of the seminar refers mainly to the discipline of media studies, but also to the political science. The processes of mediatization of political communication reflect new relations of dependence between the world of politics and the world of media. Their proper interpretation requires knowledge of media logic and political logic.

KNOWLEDGE

EK1. The student has in-depth knowledge of the theory of medium-range media functioning in contemporary society, including the area of ​​politics.

EK2. He understands the basic concepts of political communication - Rush's sociological approach; Negrine's media studies perspective; system definition of Blumler and Gurevitch; McNair's three-element concept.

EK3. He has an advanced level of knowledge about the participants of the political communication processes (collective political actors - individual actors; mass media; citizens / voters).

EK4. He knows and understands the importance of political propaganda as a form of political communication.

SKILLS

EK6. He can formulate hypotheses and research problems in the field of media science.

EK7. He has an enhanced ability to present a critical attitude towards politics and the media.

EK8. He has the in-depth ability to use content analysis in empirical research.

EK9. He has an in-depth ability to create written works using the basic theoretical concepts in the field of political communication.

COMPETENCES
