Preliminary Requirements:

General knowledge of fundamental catechetics

Short description:

Material catechesis is with cannon catechesis dealing with issues of contents of teaching on the religious education. The proposed lecture is supposed to show the task doctrinal and scientific bases of due selection of contents on religion classes. The student as part of classes is supposed to purchase the knowledge in principles of applying different types of contents on the religious education and the basic skills practical about this area.

Full description:

The aim of the subject material catechetics is to familiarize the student with the basic sources of knowledge on this subject. Based on this knowledge, the lecture participant should master the rules that should be used when using a specific type of content (e.g. biblical, liturgical or moral content) in religion classes. The knowledge acquired in this way and the developed skills related to its use are of key importance for the student's acquisition of professional competence as a religion teacher. Since some types of content taken up in religion classes are connected with the issues raised in other lessons, the aim of this lecture is also to enable the student to acquire skills in cooperation with teachers of other subjects.

A student participating in lectures:

1. Characterizes a scientific specification of material catechesis.

2. Explains basic criteria of the evangelical message in the light of “General Directory on Catechization”.

3. Presents main tasks of the catechesis referring to the Bible.

4. Explains and indicates examples of the practical usage of the Bible in the catechesis .

5. Analyses the relation between the catechesis and the liturgy along with the tasks of the liturgical catechesis.

6. Explains the tasks of the catechesis in preparing pupils for living in the community of the Church.

7. Presents abilities to plan the moral formation and stimulates the personal development of the pupils.

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

Effect of education 1. A student characterizes the specification of material catechesis:

- for mark D (fail): he is not able to define material catechesis and describe its sections;

- for mark C (pass): he correctly defines material catechesis and indicates its structure and main sections;

- for mark B (pass): he precisely defines material catechesis and indicates its structure and goals;

- for mark A(pass): he precisely presents the definition of material catechesis, indicates its structure and goals along with important events from the history of the catechesis, affecting its development.

Effect of education 2. A student explains basic criteria of the evangelical message’s transmission in the light of “General Directory on Catechization”:

- for mark D (fail): he is not able to indicate few examples of criteria presenting the evangelical message’ transmission in the light of “General Directory on Catechization”;

- for mark C (pass): he is able to indicate the main criteria presenting the evangelical message’s transmission in the light of “General Directory on Catechization”;

- for mark B (pass): he presents and describes majority of criteria presenting the evangelical message’s transmission in the light of “General Directory on Catechization”;

- for mark A(pass): he indicates and analyses all criteria presenting the evangelical message’s transmission in the light of “General Directory on Catechization”.

Effect of education 3. A student presents the main tasks of the catechesis, referring to the Bible:

- for mark D (fail): he is not able to indicate the role of the Bible in the catechesis;

- for mark C (pass): he indicates the role of the Bible in the catechesis;

- for mark B (pass): he describes the role of the Bible in the catechesis and mentions the tasks of the catechesis, referring to the Bible;

- for mark A(pass): he precisely describes the role of the Bible in the catechesis along with the tasks of the catechesis, referring to the Bible.

Effect of education 4. A student explains and indicates examples of the practical usage of the Bible in the catechesis:

- for mark D (fail): he is not able to indicate any examples of the practical usage of the Bible in the catechesis;

- for mark C (pass): he indicates some examples of the practical usage of the Bible in the catechesis;

- for mark B (pass): he describes the main principles and indicates a few examples of the practical usage of the Bible in the catechesis;

- for mark A(pass): he describes the main principles referring to the Bible usage in the catechesis and gives many exampls of their practical usage.

Effect of education 5. A student analyses the relation between the catechesis and the liturgy along with the tasks of the liturgical catechesis:

- for mark D (fail): he is not able to give the definition of the catechesis and the liturgy;

- for mark C (pass): he defines the catechesis, the liturgy and indicates their relation;

- for mark B (pass): he describes the idea of the catechesis and the liturgy, indicates their relation and forms tasks of the liturgical catechesis;

- for mark A (pass): he describes the idea of the catechesis and the liturgy, indicates their interdependence, forms tasks of the liturgical catechesis and gives examples of the liturgical methods used in the catechesis.

Effect of education 6. A student shows abilities to plan the moral formation and stimulates the personal development of the pupils:

- for mark D (fail): he is not able to explain links between the catechesis and the moral formation;

- for mark C (pass): he explains the foundations of the Christian upbringing;

- for mark B (pass): he points at significant assumptions of the moral formation during the catechesis and is able to plan it;

- for mark A (pass): he points at significant assumptions of the moral formation during the catechesis and is able to plan it; he shows a deep concern in his activities about personal development of the pupils.

Effect of education 7. A student explains the tasks of the catechesis in preparing pupils for living in the community of the Church:

- for mark D (fail): he is not able to present connections between the catechesis and the Church;

- for mark C (pass): he defines a relationship between the catechesis and the Church;

- for mark B (pass): he characterizes the tasks of the catechesis in the scope of the ecclesial formation;

- for mark A (pass): he characterizes the tasks of the catechesis in the scope of the ecclesial formation and gives examples of their usage.

The final mark is the result of:

a. active participation in practical lectures: for mark C (60 %), for mark B (60-95%), for mark A (95-100%).

b. knowledge gained during lectures and through additional literature;

c. the evaluation of student’s knowledge during an exam. For mark C (50-60 %), for mark B (60-85%), for mark A (85-100%).
