LECTURE: Level of the course: basic - introductory Aims: The aim of the course is a detailed presentation of geography, topography and some elements of historical geography of the Syro-Palestinian region. The course is also an introduction to a long and complex history of these lands in antiquity: according to the Bible (the perspective of ancient Israel) and its non-Israeli residents. In this respect, the lecture only introduces the subject, which will be deepened at other courses of specialization. The lecture is an introduction to the topic of multidimensional complexity of these lands, which makes Syro-Palestine so interesting and so willingly visited by tourists and pilgrims of all faiths. LECTURE: Course contents: 1. Geography of the Syro-Palestinian region. Maps. 2. Elements of the historical geography of Syro-Palestine. 3. Topography of Syro-Palestine with detailed information about important places and monuments of the region. 4. Topography of Syro-Palestine with detailed information about important places and monuments of the region (II). 5. Topography of Syro-Palestine with detailed information about important places and monuments of the region (III). 6. History of ancient Palestine according to the Bible (introduction). 7. Non-Israeli inhabitants of Syro-Palestine in antiquity (introduction). 8. The most important Christian sites in the Holy Land (introduction; movie). |
