Short description:

Course level: basic

Module objectives: The course aims are to provide students with fundamental problems of logic.

The basic premise of the module content was that inestimable value in journalism is the ability to accurately, logical correctly thinking and communicating thoughts to other people by the mass media. These classes also provide a conceptual apparatus, which is essential in humanistic studies.

The effect of education: the attitude - formation the attitude of critical thinking. Competence - knowledge of disciplines - classical logic.

Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of the language.

Assessment: Final test. Obligate material presented in lectures.

Module content:

1. Introduction: the history of logic, its object and purpose of education.

2. Syntactic categories of expressions

3. The classical propositional calculus: building language.

4. The classical propositional calculus: logical tautologies, the truth-table decision procedure.

5. The ruth-table decision procedure (cont.).

6. The concept of logical consequence.

7. Classification of reasoning.
