Short description:

Level of course: Basic

Goals:

To show the Pentateuch and "Deuteronomistic Works" as literary works and recognition of theological message these biblical literature.

Prerequisites:

- basic knowledge of the geographical and historical realities of biblical Israel.

- having the own copy of the Bible (Biblia Tysiąclecia).

- personal reading of considerable parts of the Pentateuch and excerpts of "deuteronomistic corp"

Full description:

The first stage involves bringing lectures formation history (source and editing) and works deuteronomistycznego Pentateuch (Joshua, Judges, 1-2 Samuel, 1-2 Kings, 1-2 Chronicles). Then, students learn literary structure and major theological themes in subsequent books made these collections. To better understand the plan of salvation and the subsequent stages of its implementation in detail, students will be presented to the biblical texts concerning the essential moments of salvation history: the creation of the world and do evil, call of Abraham, the Exodus, the covenant of Sinai, to give the land and the beginnings of Israel's monarchy.

During the course, students will learn the following informations concerning to the Pentateuch and Deuteronomical's hagiography :

4. Literary structure of Pentateuch

5. Division of Pentateuch based on theological criterion.

6. Structure and theological message of individual books of Pentateuch and

B. DEUTERONOMISTIC WORK

1. Research on "Deuteronomistic School"

2. Problem of transmission of the history in biblical period.

3. Beginning of the history: Joshua reading.

4. Period of Judges

5. Beginning of the monarchy: Saul

6. Development of the monarchy: David and Salomon.

7. The declining years of the monarchy: division of kingdom.

- knows the process of editing and traditions of the Pentateuch

- knows the content of the books of the Pentateuch and "Deuteronomical Work"

- knows the set of fundamental theological issues aforementioned books

- knows the most important collection of messianic texts included into aforementioned books

2. SKILLS

- can indicate the unity and continuity of the main theological themes of the Pentateuch and "Deuteronomistic Work "

- can point out the foundamentals of biblical truths concerning to a man, the world and the God

Assessment methods and assessment criteria:

The lectures will end with a written examination consisting of three parts:

1. Multiple choice (max. points - 10)

2. Knowledge of the biblical text (max. Number of points - 10)

3. Two open questions concerning the submitted during the lecture content (max. Number of points - 10)

The maximum number of points = 30

The number of points required to evaluate the positive = 18
