Objectives of the course: The lecture is divided into two parts. 1) Discussion of historical and literary aspects of the Synoptic Gospels. 2) Main theological themes of the individual Synoptic Gospels. |

1. The meaning of the term „gospel”. 2. Hypothesis explaining the composition of the Synoptic Gospels. 3. The authorship of the Gospel of Mark. Peter’s influence. 4. Audience, the date of composition and literary structure of the Gospel of Mark. 5. Jesus as Christ in the Gospel of Mark. 6. Jesus as God’s Son in the Gospel of Mark 7. Author, audience, the date of composition and literary structure of the Gospel of Matthew. 8. Jesus as Messiah and the Son of God according to the Gospel of Matthew. 9. The law of the New Testament according to the Gospel of Matthew. The commandment to love. 10. St. Matthew’s ecclesiology. 11. Author, audience and date of composition of the Gospel of Luke. 12. The theology of the history of salvation according to the Gospel of Luce. 13. Jesus as Savior and as Prophet according to the Gospel of Luke. |

| Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
There is the writning examination on the end of the lecture. The opinion depends on the number of points got on the examination. To get the opinion 3 should win 55 points, opinion 4 - 75 points, opinion 5 - minimum 90 points. |
