The aim of the lecture is to show the relationship between catechesis and culture, which leads to the presentation of the essence of the process of catechetical inculturation and the requirements it must meet. |

The concept(s) of culture. Essential elements of culture. The relative autonomy of different cultural fields. Cultural Diversity. The adaptation of Christianity in relation to culture: accommodation, acculturation, inculturation. Definition of enculturation. Inculturation as deep evangelization. Inculturation as cultural transformation. Limitations of inculturation. Catechesis and inculturation. Catechesis as an active agent of inculturation. The concept of catechesis and its inculturative function. Contemporary European culture as the environment of catechesis. Characteristics of contemporary culture. Transformations of contemporary culture. Culture seen in the perspective of contemporary ethics. A vision of secularized anthropology. The different position of religion in a secular world. Relativism in the approach to religion. Diverse relationship with official Christianity. Faith transmission in the context of contemporary culture. Revising the existing practice of Christian initiation. In the family, with the family, in the community. Other places of catechesis in contemporary culture. |

Efekty kształcenia i opis ECTS: |
1. In terms of knowledge: The student lists the definition of culture and the definition of catechesis. He names the relationship between catechesis and culture. Characterizes the process of inculturation. Describes the requirements to be met by the process of inculturation. 2. In terms of skills: The student analyzes the concept of catechesis and culture. Compares different accounts of culture. Draws conclusions about the interrelationship of catechesis and culture. It proves that catechesis seen in the process of inculturation is more effective. 3. In terms of competencies: The student recognizes the need to include culture in catechesis. It creates appropriate scenarios for catechesis included in the process of inculturation. He prepares appropriate outlines of such catechesis, depending on the addressees. ECTS Description: participation in the lecture: 30 hours. the student's own work: 20 hours. consultations with the instructor: 10 hours. Total: 60 hours = 3 ECTS |
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: |
Evaluation: The student is unable to determine the nature of catechesis as seen in the process of inculturation. Evaluation sufficient: the student is able to characterize catechesis and inculturation. Evaluation good: The student gives both the characteristics of catechesis seen in the process of inculturation and its conditions. Evaluation very good: the student fully characterizes the contemporary culture. He knows how to give the characteristics of catechesis in the perspective of the process of inculturation, characterizing its conditions. |
