course contents: 1.Consciousness: consciousness vs unconsciousness; difficulties in integrating conscious and unconscious processes; alternating states of consciousness. 2.Mind – Processing information as the basic function of the mind; types of mind, models of mind 3.Perception: perceiving as a bottom-up i top-down process; Perception from the point of view of Psychology of Personality 4.Attention: the field of attention vs field of consciousness; pre-attention processes; theories of divided attention 5.Learning: conditioned learning; motivation in learning 6.Memory: models of memory; theories of forgetting; coding information 7.Cognitive representations: imagery; debate concerning the nature of imagery; script and schemata theory 8.Thinking and problem-solving: structure and functions of thinking 9.Intelligence: measuring intelligence; theories of intelligence 10.Cognitive styles: cognitive style as an object of interaction 11.Temper; temper and other psychological structures 12.Emotions: the mechanism of stimulating emotions 13.Motivation: motivation in theoretical systems 14.Self-cognition: sources of knowledge about oneself 15.Perceiving others: peculiarity of interpersonal perception; distortions in perceiving others assessment methods: Students’ attendance and papers are the basic criteria of evaluation/ no grades at the end of the semester |
