level of course: Intermediate objectives of the course: The aim of the course is a scientific approach to the origin of the universe and the beginnings of life in the light of God’s Revelation. Thus, the course is focused on the questions of Creatology (science of creation) against the discoveries of other sciences. Human beings - the ultimate form of creation after original sin regain their self-respect in Christ who, as the incarnate Word of God, sacrificed his own life for the salvation of the world. Apart from the questions related to Christology and Creatology the course also discusses the question of the ‘new creation’. prerequisites: Competence in Propaedeutics of Theology. |

course contents: Creatology: God the Creator. The notion of creation. The sources describing the act of creation (Holy Scripture, Tradition, further developments in science concerning creation of the world and the Man). Theological approach (theology and natural sciences; original sin, existence of angels, existence of Satan). Christology: basic Christological problems. Biblical sources describing Jesus Christ. Ecclesiastical teachings related to faith in God’s son. Jesus Christ as an Intermediary of salvation (Soteriology). assessment methods: Oral exam |
