During the classes on Methodics of making dissertation students are acquainted with the requirements which any scientific dissertation should meet. They also train how to set scientific issues and solve problems. The skills they are focused are seeking, selection and analysing of the written sources, formulating statements and presenting them in written.

Course contents:

1. Introduction, profile of different types of scientific texts.

2. Subject matter and a problem: principles for asking questions in sciences.

3. Different methods used in thesis; relationship between a question and a method.

4. How to seek sources: libraries, bibliographical indexes, authors.

5. How to read: general principles for reading

6. Gathering and ordering information: note, summary, database. Exercises.

7. Ordering information: outline. Exercises.

8. Make use of the sources: quotation and report on one’s statements.

9. Footnote and bibliography: how to read and how to make.

10. Introduction and conclusion of the dissertation

11. The outward of the dissertation: parts, title page, printout.
