Podejmowane tematy koncentrują się wokół nadrzędnego celu ukazania ogólnych prawidłowości funkcjonowania człowieka jako osoby, która żyje i odnosi się do otaczającego świata. Wykład przygotowany jest w oparciu o najnowsze osiągnięcia psychologii i publikacje z tego zakresu.

Full description:

I. Assumptions and Goals: the lecture on General Psychology is an introduction to the subject of principle psychological issues for I year students. The topics undertaken concentrate on the dominating goal which is presenting general probabilities in a man’s functioning as a person who lives and relates to the surrounding world.

II. Criteria and Forms for passing the subject:

• Criteria for obtaining credits: participation in the lectures

• Passing the course: a written exam

III. Teaching Methods: Multi-media presentation, lecture.

IV. Course description: 1. Psychology as an academic discipline and its subject: philosophical psychology; psychology as an independent academic discipline possessing its subject, methods and goals; the formation of the subject of psychology; psychology referring to other academic disciplines.

2. Fields in Psychology: psycho-physics as precursors to academic psychology; W. Wundt’s psychology of consciousness; the main assumptions of psychology of being, functioning and its assumptions; behaviorism in J. Watson’s, B. Skinner’s and E. Tolman‘s concept; principle assumptions of psychoanalysis; humanistic psychology; positive and cognitive.

3. Psychological methods: descriptive and experimental methods in psychology; demands placed on psychological methods; introspection; observation; experiement; survey; questionnaire; tests and interview.

4. Orientational and cognitive activities: awareness; perceiving; imagination; awareness; memory; thinking.

5. Emotional and motivational processes: emotions and feelings; the characteristic of the motivational process.

6. Stress and frustration.

7. Psychological concepts of learning: learning by the method of classical conditioning; instrumental; method of signs; method of insight; as a process of self-actualization.

8. Personality and elements of its structure: the person and personality; theory of types; theory of features; developmental theories; theory of personality dynamics; theory of self; temperament; character; abilities; interests; attitudes.

9. Psychological norm: natural and humanistic norms in psychology; criteria of a mature personality.

10. Psychic disturbances and psychotherapy.
