Short description:

Level: advanced.

Aims: Lectureship aims at acquire reading and writing skills in Latin (classical and theological), mainly with the possibility of self-translation of terms and the Latin texts with understanding the basic principles of grammar and a particular set of vocabulary (so that the Latin language and culture are not alien, but became friendly and helpful in studying philosophy and theology, especially biblical).

Full description:

Latin adjectives and their variety, syntax elements of Latin, Latin translations of texts, memorization of vocabulary assimilation of Latin, Latin prayer, reading and translating passages of the Bible and Prayer Books from Latin.

Grading in the winter and summer sessions. The evaluation takes into account the results of written symposia and oral responses during the course of the semester.

Efekty kształcenia i opis ECTS:

The aim is to deepen the students' reading and writing skills in Latin translation with the possibility of self-expression, the operative part of Latin texts and simpler by knowing the basic grammatical rules and a specific set of vocabulary (so that the Latin language and heritage, which brings together were not foreign, but became friendly and helpful people of today have the knowledge and culture as well as conducting independent research work). Apart from strictly grammatical issues, students learn about the rich set of vocabulary, proverbs and the operative part of the Latin, are well acquainted with the texts of selected prayers and Christmas carols in Latin, are acquainted with the silhouettes of some ancient Latin poets and writers, and some events of mythology and ancient history.
