Type and level of the course: Obligatory course for the students of the III and IV year of studies in Major Seminary of the Dioces of Łomża. Purposes of the course: The aim of these exercises is to help the students to have the ability to personally analyze and correctly interpret N.T. texts (the Synoptics). The aim is also to perfect one's scientific work, the knowledge of and ability to use methods of biblical interpretation and the ability to use necessary specialist biblical literature, such as dictionaries, lexicons, commentaries, monographic literature, periodicals and other necessary aids. Prerequisites: Taking part in the exercises assumes the knowledge of basic information from the field of Introduction to the Bible, biblical Greek and the completion of the lectures of the N.T. exegetical course (or taking them at the same time). |

Contents of the course: Acquiring the ability of a personal (individual, self-dependent) interpretation of the Bible texts of the NT (the Synoptics) and the public presentation of such. Continually improved knowledge of and ability to use different methods of interpretation of biblical texts. The ability to use biblical literature in a self-dependent and critical manner. The ability to formulate personal and motivated conclusions and opinions, the ability to communicate them to others and suggesting these to the critical opinion of others. The ability to participate in discussion, to listen to others and to have respect for what they are saying. Learning methods: Class activities with interactive method guided by lecturer and students with the assumption that the students have a maximum active participation in the preparation and course of each encounter. The lecturer especially assists in learning the methodology of working with the Bible. After that, each of the students prepares a 15 min. presentation concerning a Synoptic Gospel text (selection agreed with the lecturer), after which there is a discussion of all of the participants, in which there can be a verification (correction) of the earlier presentation, a deeper analysis and a better and more profound understanding of the presented material. Evaluation methods: Final grade takes into account: class participation, activity and involvement during classes, and quality of assignment prepared according to directions. |
