Type and level of the course: Obligatory course for the students of the III and IV year of studies in Major Seminary of the Dioces of Łomża. Intermediate level. Purposes of the course: The course has as its aim acquainting with the life and activity of the Apostle of the Nations, his Letters and their main theological themes. Together with the Pauline Letters (and the Letter to the Hebrews) there shall also be an analysis of the Acts of the Apostles, their theological content, above all in relation to the person and activity of St. Paul, especially his missionary journeys. Prerequisites: The course presupposes a knowledge of the basic information from the General Introduction to the Holy Scripture, Biblical Geography and Biblical Greek. |

Contents of the course: Acquaintance with the person and life of St. Paul and his missionary journeys. Detailed introduction to each of the Letters, in which there will be an analysis of the issues of the authorship, time, circumstances and place of writing of each of the Letters, their structure and main theological themes (the same for the Letter to the Hebrews), an exegesis of chosen texts, especially important from the point of view of exegesis and theology. The Acts of the Apostles: author, time and circumstances of writing, main theological themes, the figure of Paul in Acts. Learning methods: Lecture, 30 hours. Evaluation methods: Oral final examination at the end of the semester, of a duration of 15 min., embracing the whole material of the course, supplemented by recommended reading. |
