Short description:	Type and level of the course: Obligatory matter for the students of the VIth year of the studies in seminary in Łomża. Objectives of the course: This course is an introduction to the history and methodology of biblical theology, especially as it is distinguished from and related to systematic theology. Students will examine challenges to doing biblical theology and methods of doing biblical theology. This course will emphasize that exegesis is the main basis for a whole theology that endeavors to understand both the unity and diversity of biblical literature in a canonical context as well as the elements of continuity and discontinuity between the two Testaments. Prerequisites: Familiarity with the contents of the Bible (Old and New Testaments).
Full description:	Course contents: 1. Vocation of the God's People in the History of salvation; 2. Notion of God in the Old Testament; 3. Prayers, offerings and liturgical feasts of the Old Testament - their theology; 4. Development of the theological, moral and anthropological ideas in the Bible; 5. Rules of the theological researches within the Bible; 6. Hermeneutics of the Bible texts; 7. Chosen biblical ideas and problems such as: Covenant, Biblical symbols, Light and darkness, Joy and sadness in Psalms and others. Evaluation methodes: oral exam at the end of the cycle.
