Type and level of the course: Obligatory matter for the students of the VIth year of studies in seminary in Łomża.

Day studies for the degree of „Master in Theology”.

Objectives of the course:

- presentation of knowledge concerning spiritual guidance, forms of spiritual guidance.

- analysis of spirituality: priestly and of other form of consecrated life, lay, spirituality of Church movements and associations.

- presentation of methods allowing for the development of the spiritual life of the human being.

Prerequisites:

A general knowledge of the foundations of theology and the history of spirituality.

Contents of the course:

- definition and content of spirituals guidance.

- principles of conducting different forms of spiritual guidance.

- the spiritual director and the penitent.

- the human being and the Holy Spirit in spiritual guidance.

- principles of spiritual discernment.

- priestly spirituality.

- spirituality of people of a consecrated life.

- spirituality of laity.

- exorcisms and their use.

Teaching methods:

Lectures, reading of source texts, discussion in class guided by lecturer, analysis of topics suggested by students.

Evaluation methods:

Credited with grade (scale: 2-5), on the basis of an oral exam concerning material presented in class and on the basis of class participation.
