Course level: A1 – Basic breakthrough Course targets: After finishing semester I the student will be able to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases, introduce him/herself and others, and will be able to ask and answer questions about personal details. After finishing two semesters, the student will achieve A1 level of English and will be able to start an A2 level course. Entrance requirements: No entrance requirements |

Course content: Vocabulary: Greetings, numbers, spelling, jobs, nationalities, fast food, shopping, colours, describing things, families, relations. Grammar: Verbs be (sing. and plural) and do, article a/an, verb can, adjectives, there is/are; some, any, verb have, plural nouns; Saxon Genitive. Academic skills: communication on a very basic level, provided that the interlocutor is able to help. Assessment: Continuous assessment on the basis of class attendance (no more than two unjustified absences in a semester), active participation, preparation for classes; a written test at the end of the semester. |
