Aims: The aim of the lecture is to present the long and complex history of Christianity in the Holy Land as seen through the archaeological finds, Christian sanctuaries and holy places. (in Polish) The merits: 1. Introduction to the subject. Geography and an outline of history of the „Holy Land”. 2. History of Christianity in the Holy Land – I (From the beginnings to St Helena). 3. History of Christianity in the Holy Land – II (Byzantine period). 4. History of Christianity in the Holy Land – III (Islamic period and Crusaders period). 5. History of Christianity in the Holy Land – IV (Mamluk and Ottoman periods). 6. History of Christianity in the Holy Land – V (British Mandate, the State of Israel, modern history). 7. Custody of the Holy Land and its sanctuaries. 8. Antonio Barluzzi – the “architect of the Holy Land” – his life and works. 9. Christian remains, sanctuaries and holy places in Jerusalem – I 10.
