The main aim of the course is to give the students basic information, and to offer possible interpretations of the history and evolution of environmental movements in Central and Eastern Europe, assessing also their strengths and weaknesses. After the course, each participant should be able to analyse the history and evolution, and also the recent situation of six most important Central and Eastern European environmental organizations. Based on existing quantitative representative surveys, we will also interpret current sociological knowledge about these organizations and their position in society. Two lectures will be focused on analysis of values which are shared among members of selected environmental organizations in Central and Eastern Europe. |

The main aim of the course is to give the students basic information, and to offer possible interpretations of the history and evolution of environmental movements in Central and Eastern Europe, assessing also their strengths and weaknesses. After the course, each participant should be able to analyse the history and evolution, and also the recent situation of six most important Central and Eastern European environmental organizations. Used terms and theorethical foundations. 2. History of environmnetal movement in Eastern and Central Europe - until 1989. 3. History of environmnetal movement in Eastern and Central Europe - until 1999. 4. History of environmnetal movement in Eastern and Central Europe - until 2016. 5. Comparison of the history and evolution of environmental movements in Central and Eastern Europe and movements in the western countries (Scandinavian Countries, Great Britain, USA, Germany) 6. Case study – Czech republic I. 7. Case study – Czech republic II. 8. Case study – Poland I. 9. Case study – Poland II. 10. Case study – Slovakia. 11. Case study – Russia. 12.
