  • roczny wymiar godzinowy nakładu pracy studenta konieczny do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się dla danego etapu studiów wynosi 1500-1800 h, co odpowiada 60 ECTS;
  • tygodniowy wymiar godzinowy nakładu pracy studenta wynosi 45 h;
  • 1 punkt ECTS odpowiada 25-30 godzinom pracy studenta potrzebnej do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się;
  • tygodniowy nakład pracy studenta konieczny do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się pozwala uzyskać 1,5 ECTS;
  • nakład pracy potrzebny do zaliczenia przedmiotu, któremu przypisano 3 ECTS, stanowi 10% semestralnego obciążenia studenta.

The course prepares for working with older adults by examining biological, psychological, social and functional aspects of aging.

Students will be provided with an engaging, personally relevant, and academically sound introduction to multiple dimensions of the aging process and its effects on specifics of working with people in older age.

Methods of working with older adults (3h)

Tips for working with older adults with various types of disabilities (2h)

Career Opportunities in Gerontology (1h)

Students are encouraged to explore their own attitudes and stereotypes about aging as well as career opportunities within gerontology in aging societies.

EK2 U - can use and integrate theoretical knowledge to analyze complex vocational problems, as well as diagnose and design practical actions.

EK3 U - can choose and apply the appropriate procedures in working with older adults and choose the means and methods of work to effectively perform the emerging professional tasks.

COMPETENCES

EK4 K - understands the need to constantly improve his/her language skills and can use available resources, is able to read and comprehend texts and critically evaluate them in terms of suitability for his or her academic work.

EK4 K - discussion, work in groups, verification: presentation, oral exam

Students are expected to complete all readings and prepare assignments prior to class.

Attendance to all classes is recommended and encouraged. Student is allowed to miss 1 class (2 h) during 15 h cycle without any justification, but if student misses more than that, each subsequent absence will require additional work (preparing presentations or assignment). The course can not be passed if student has more than than 4 absences (8 hours) for 15 h course.

THE STUDENT REQUIREMENTS:

1. Students will participate in class discussions and activities.

2. Students will prepare and make presentation on selected topic

3. Student will pass final exam.

Scores:

1) presentation - 20 points

2) oral exam - 80 points

High activity in the class allows to earn 10 additional points.

Final score:

60-67 p. - 3,0

68-75 p. - 3,5

76-83 p. - 4,0

84-91 p. - 4,5

92-100 p. - 5,0

2 - has no basic knowledge of human development in older age both in the biological, psychological and social aspects.

3 - has basic knowledge of human development in older age both in the biological, psychological and social aspects.

4 - has a proper knowledge of human development in older age both in the biological, psychological and social aspects and can characterize the specificity of older adults.

5 - has a proper knowledge of human development in older age both in the biological, psychological and social aspects and can integrate them in functional terms.

EK2 U - can use and integrate theoretical knowledge to analyze complex vocational problems, as well as diagnose, design and resolve practical actions.
