The aim of the classes is to introduce and discuss the thought and development of Polish twentieth century thinkers working on the border of philosophy and psychology. We will look closer on the thought of Andrzej Walicki, Danuta Gierulanka and Andrzej Półtawski. Andrzej Władysław Tadeusz Lewicki (1910–1972) was a Polish psychologist, founder of the first in Poland Department of Clinical Psychology in Poznań. He was the author of the original experimental method of creating artificial concepts and the so-called clinical experiment. He is an author of important for psychology, but also for contemporary philosophy the book "Cognitive Processes and Orientation in the Environment" (1960). Danuta Gierulanka (1909-1996) was a Polish philosopher and mathematician. She was a student of Roman Ingardem - famous Polish phenomenologist. She investigated into nature of mathematical cognition and mathematical concepts. Andrzej Półtawski (1923-2020) was a Polish phenomenologist and personalist. He also was an Ingarden's student. He investigated into realism-idealism discussion, nature of consciousness. Furthermore, he connected the philosophical analysis with cognitive psychology and developmental psychology. |

ECTS [2 ECTS = 30 (25) hours]: participation in the lecture: 0-30 hours preparation for the exam: 30-60 hours Total hours (average): 60 [60/30 (25) = 4] Number of ECTS: 4 • Knowledge: student knows and understand contemporary the thought of Walicki, Gierunka and Półtawski. He knows their terminology and concepts. He/She recognizes the basic philosophical problems concerning those thinkers. He/She understands the specific relation between philosophy and psychology in thought of discussing thinkers. • Abilities: student single-handedly reads and understands the more philosophical articles concerning the topics discussed on the seminar. • Expertise: student efficiently organizes his/her work. |

Lecture and joint reading of texts and discussion. • 2 - student doesn't know the sources and basic issues of philosophy of cognitive science. He/She doesn't recognize the most important thesis and problems concerning this discipline. • 3 - student badly knows the sources and basic issues of philosophy of cognitive science. He/She has a problem with recognize the most important thesis and problems concerning this discipline. • 4 - student knows the sources and basic issues of philosophy of cognitive science. He/She recognizes the most important thesis and problems concerning this discipline. • 5 - student very good knows the f sources and basic issues of philosophy of cognitive science. He recognizes the most important thesis and problems concerning this discipline, and he/she can use this knowledge into philosophical discussion.
