Pełny opis: |
The course acquaints students with the possibilities of using microbiological and biotechnological tools in the field of protection and sustainable environment, mainly in the assessment of the state of the environment, in monitoring the quality of soil, water and air, and in bioremediation. This course demonstrates a huge diversity of microorganisms and their roles in natural processes occurring in soils, water and air. Students will learn how microorganisms contribute to environmental quality. The course will get students theoretical knowledge how to perform microbial analysis of soil, water and air. The students get to know the basic methods and techniques for detection and quantification of microorganisms in different habitats and microbial activity. |

Metody i kryteria oceniania: |
Lectures and exercises complement each other. Generally, exercises and lectures are held alternately, every other week, but depending on the nature of the exercises (e.g. time-consuming), they may be conducted for two or three consecutive weeks (then there is no lecture). Assessment criteria: - attendance - are allowed three unexcused absences. You are expected to attend every class. Because there is no extra time in the semester, missed labs cannot be made up. - activity on the Moodle (e-learning) platform - solving quizzes and tasks. Quizzes and tasks placed on the e-learning platform must be systematically supplemented and solved. - Final test (consisting of 30 test questions)- only students with all accepted Lab Reports will be admitted to the final test - Final evaluation (average) includes an assessment of the final test and evaluation of the activity on the e-learning platform (tests and quizzes solved for min. 85% - 5 (very good), from 84% to 75% - 4 (good), from 74% to 50% - 3 (sufficient), less than 49% - 2 (unsufficient)) |
