1. Sea water, brackish water, estuaries. Salt water and fresh water - composition of dissolved salt. 2. Is the Baltic Sea the true sea: Depth, salinity, the connection with the ocean,the tides. 3. The natural resources of the Baltic Sea: fish, sand, waves, wind, amber, tourism. 4. Biotic zones in the Baltic Sea: psmmon and litoral, plankton and nekton and the pwlagic zone, 5. Bentos - what do larval forms. Bentos – types of the bottom and their fauna. 6. Esffect of salinity on the size of animals. Shining of the sea – Baltic Sea why not do lit? 7. Efekty kształcenia i opis ECTS:

Knowledge: the student knows the geological history of the Baltic Sea and the basic group of flora and fauna, defines and explains the origin of the relict species, invasive and filling ones, explains the differences between salt water and brackish one; Characterizes biotic zone of the Baltic Sea and their inhabitants; Enumerates and describes the adaptations of organisms to live in brackish water, explains the sources of pollution of the waters of the Baltic Sea and ways of their protection; Characterizes biological resources of the Baltic Sea and their use.

Skills: student classifies types of seas and compares their flora and fauna; Examines the origins of the elements of the flora and fauna of the Baltic Sea, and assess the quantitative and qualitative differences between the living world of Baltic Sea and the living world

of the ocean, conclusions about the possibility of exploitation of the resources of the Baltic Sea; correctly uses the terminology of the ocenologicalogy; Provides and evaluates the effects of natural and anthropogenic processes in the marine environment (eutrophication, overfishing, poisoning, oil and gas exploatation and transport), examines the benefits of Poland from having access to the sea.

Competences: Student is able to discuss the exploitation of the riches of the Baltic Sea, methods of protection, threats (Nord Stream, Ammo, mercury, digging out the Mierzeii of the Vistula River); preserves criticism in relation to the new uses of the sea and its resources wind farm); appreciates the benefits of having access to the sea and the constraints resulting from international agreements.

Competences: the student is able to discuss the exploitation of the riches of the Baltic Sea, methods of protection, threats (Nord Stream, ammo, mercury, digging out the Vistula Spit); preserves criticism in relation to the new uses of the sea and its resources (e.g.wind farms); appreciates the benefits of having access to the sea and the constraints arising out of international agreements, is able to prepare simple presentation, lectures, etc. on topics related to the biology, ecology and protection of the Baltic Sea
