  • roczny wymiar godzinowy nakładu pracy studenta konieczny do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się dla danego etapu studiów wynosi 1500-1800 h, co odpowiada 60 ECTS;
  • tygodniowy wymiar godzinowy nakładu pracy studenta wynosi 45 h;
  • 1 punkt ECTS odpowiada 25-30 godzinom pracy studenta potrzebnej do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się;
  • tygodniowy nakład pracy studenta konieczny do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się pozwala uzyskać 1,5 ECTS;
  • nakład pracy potrzebny do zaliczenia przedmiotu, któremu przypisano 3 ECTS, stanowi 10% semestralnego obciążenia studenta.

Skrócony opis:

The aim of the course is to gain knowledge on critical assessment of information about the human being and the natural world around him and enable to suggest adequate solutions to problems. The student will be able to demonstrate the knowledge about the peculiarities of human biology (principles of biological evolution applied to humans; origins of human species and their further evolution, human ontogenesis – from birth to biological death and biological, environmental and social factors, human biological diversity, it’s causes and history of interpretations – typological and population-biological approaches).

Course content

Introduction. Principles of human biological evolution (4 hours)

Biology and behavior of primates (4 hours)

The key stages of anthropogenesis (2 hours)

Ecological and demographic characteristics as well as health and disease during the hunter-gatherer, early agriculture, early urbanization and industrial periods (4 hours)

Peculiarities of physical and psychomotor development in childhood and adolescence (4 hours)

Morphological, physiological and social aspects of ageing (4 hours).

Principles of human adaptation and acclimatization. Ecological gradients (4 hours).

Global diversity of human biological traits. Interpretations of the biological diversity of the modern human being (4 hours).

Efekty kształcenia i opis ECTS:

• Learning outcomes: With the use of the knowledge of general biology the student will be able to critically assess the information about the human being and the natural world around him and will be able to suggest adequate solutions to problems. The student will be able to independently gain knowledge about biology of the human being and its biotic and social environment, and will be able to find, evaluate and systematize information. The student will be able to demonstrate the knowledge about the peculiarities of human biology (phylogenesis, ontogenesis, human biological diversity and its causes).

Metody i kryteria oceniania:

Methods of knowledge verification

• Evaluation of semester work (2 short essays on chosen topics) – 40 %; final on-line exam (more extended essay) – 60 %.
