Course content: Elements of human genetics (4 hours) Principles of evolutionary medicine (4 hours). Concept of disease in evolutionary perspective (4 hours) Human metabolism, nutrition and evolution (6 hours) Reproduction and evolution (4 hours) Organism defence and evolution (6 hours). Human behavior and biological evolution (2 hours) |

Efekty kształcenia i opis ECTS: |
Learning outcomes: With the use of the knowledge of human biology the student will be able to critically assess the information about the human health and disease, factors affecting human health, perception of health and disease, and will be able to suggest adequate solutions to problems. The student will be able to independently gain knowledge about factors of human health, will be able to find, evaluate and systematize information. |
Metody i kryteria oceniania: |
Method of teaching • Problem-oriented lecturing, active learning methods (fulfilling assigned duties on literature search and writing short essays during semester), analytical methods (information search and analysis). Methods of knowledge verification • Evaluation of semester work (2 short essays on chosen topics) – 40 %; final on-line exam (more extended essay) – 60 %. |
