Week I: Lesson 1 (Tuesday, 1.5 hrs): Introduction 1. The Anthropogenic Character the Ecological Crisis and Its Root Causes as ‘Philosophical’ Lesson 2 (Thursday, 1.5 hrs): 2. Modernity as the Humus of the Philosophical Roots of the Ecological Crisis Week II: Lesson 3 (Tuesday, 1.5 hrs): 3. The Cartesian Modern Weltbild and the Philosophical Roots of the Ecological Crisis Lesson 4 (Thursday, 1.5 hrs): 4. Cartesian Ego, Modern Anthropocentrism, and the Ecological Crisis Week III: Lesson 5 (Tuesday, 1.5 hrs): 5. The Cartesian Res Extensa and the Modern Mechanistic Worldview Lesson 6 (Thursday, 1.5 hrs): 6. Cartesian Mechanistic Physiology and the World of the Bête-Machines Week IV: Lesson 7 (Tuesday, 1.5 hrs): 7. Cartesian Metaphysical Dualism and the Human-Nature Divide Lesson 8 (Thursday, 1.5 hrs): 8. The Enduring Cartesian Modern Weltbild and the Ecological Crisis Conclusion E-LEARNING: I propose that the students read 3 short texts (articles or chapters from books) from a list of 6 that I will be proposing. I will suggest two texts every week of which they can choose to read one. They will also be asked to make a short summary (of around 1000 words) of the 3 texts that they have chosen to read and send them to me by e-mail. I shall explain this format to them in greater detail while I will be at the UKSW for the classes. |

Metody i kryteria oceniania: |
Evaluation: the students will be evaluated on an essay (of around 6000 words) that they can write on a theme that they will discuss and confirm with prof. Kureethadam during the period of his stay at UKSW. Students will read 3 short texts (articles or chapters from books) from a list of 6 that I will be proposing in e-learning system). They will also be asked to make a short summary (of around 1000 words) of the 3 texts that they have chosen to read and send them to me by e-mail. I shall explain this format to them in greater detail while I will be at the UKSW for the classes. |
